“Burton Glen is a school that borders the east side of Flint, in the town of Burton. Burton Glen was founded in the fall of 1999 in the basement of a local church. The school served 140 students then and has flourished into a school that is serving more than 700 students today. Burton Glen is so much more than just a school; it is an educational institution filled with a caring and compassionate staff that focuses on the success of each and every student.

I believe that the teamwork and camaraderie shared between the administration and staff at Burton Glen is second-to-none. I also believe that the leadership in the school is a key contributing factor in the success of the daily routine you will find here. The administrators at Burton Glen display a high level of professionalism and have the same expectation in return. Furthermore, Burton Glen has a strong belief in the teachings of moral focus. Through these strong beliefs and teachings, Burton Glen prides itself on the positive impact we make on each individual student. These positive impacts translate into students that are ready for college and the changing world around us. Burton Glen has accomplished a lot in its short existence, but we are most proud of those that arrive every morning ready to learn. I am proud to be a part of this educational success called Burton Glen.”
Mr. Gomoluch
First Grade Teacher

“I am entering my sixth year of teaching at Burton Glen Charter Academy and I feel priviledged to have the opportunity to teach and enrich the lives of our students. Burton Glen provides a safe environment for all students to learn. The staff and administration set high expectations for the students, which in turn, fosters learning and moral development.

Burton Glen feels more like a family atmosphere than a school. I have known some of the students since they were in first grade, and now they are in my class. The utilization of constant, positive reinforcement creates an atmosphere that motivates and focuses students to graduate from high school and pursue a college degree. I teach in the middle school section of the building and decorating the hallway are university pennants. It makes me proud to know that our students at Burton Glen have the ability to achieve their dreams and attend one of those colleges.”
Scott Rak,
Middle School Social Studies Teacher

“I have been a teacher at Burton Glen for three years. I can truly say that teachers here do far more than actually "teach". We are able to get to know our students on a deeper level at our school. There are many activities to bring students and the staff together as a community. Instruction is differentiated to meet each and every student's needs. There are activity nights, after-school tutoring programs, book clubs, writing clubs, contests among the students and the staff, athletics and many more extra-curricular activities.

Last year we started a ski club where each Friday approximately 40-50 students would go out to the ski lodge and learn how to ski and snowboard. I am so thankful I was able to be a part of this program and was able to see the kids having an absolute blast. I am looking forward to this year!”
