The middle school program at Burton Glen offers a safe learning environment where the focus is on preparing the students for high school. The moral focus curriculum is integrated into the culture of the middle school as well as into the core curriculum. Although Burton Glen does not have a uniform policy it does have a strict and enforced dress code policy. The middle school houses 6th through 8th grade students and fosters to their individual needs. The 6th grade teacher team work diligently to transition the students into the middle school by slowly giving them more and more responsibility as the year progresses. The 6th grade students do not regularly mix with the 7th and 8th grade students. The 7th grade teacher team focuses on the students academic progression as well as the freedom to make more individual choices with the offering of electives such as civics, African-American history, problem solving, CSI, drama, book club, poetry, and the ever popular Your On Your Own. The 8th grade teacher team has the honorable goal of getting the students prepared to leave the safe environment of middle school and enter the world of high school. Learning is much more independent and choices of electives are present.
