Boy & Girl Scouts
We have been heavily involved in Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts through Burton Glen. We are always looking for boys and girls who are interested in the scouting program. The program has taught the children a great deal, and made some long-lasting friendships for the kids as well as the parents. We have done activities and taken trips such as: making paper, visiting a flower shop, going up in a lighthouse, going to the airport and riding in a small plane, taking hikes, camping, fishing, making necklaces and bracelets, doing lots of different crafts, reading, playing games and many more fun activities. If anyone wants to become involved in the Scouting program please contact:

Odyssey After School Tutoring
Odyssey lab is offered after school for tutoring in grades 2 - 8. Students work on a computer program that tailors lessons to their academic ability based on test scores and teacher observation. Progress is evaluated by staff and lessons are adjusted based on improvement and performance. Language Arts and math tutoring is available Monday through Thursday.
Book Bowl
Burton Glen students in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades have the opportunity to take part in the Genesee Intermediate School District’s annual Book Bowl competition. Ten titles from various genres (realistic fiction, fantasy, biography, etc.) are given to participants. There are two book lists, 5/6 and 7/8. Students are given time to read the books, meet, and prepare to answer questions. The questions range in difficulty-- easy, medium, and hard. The key is “attention to detail.”
Our students compete against students from area public, private, and charter schools. Teams of 6 students gather at Baker College of Flint for this 2-3 day competition in March. The competitions are intense and exciting for both students and coaches.
